Committees

Several active committees, comprised of Neighborhood Association members, work to continually enhance the quality of life for all Stonewall residents. When complete, this page will provide an overview of our committees, the purpose/objective of each, updates on current initiatives, current membership, and how you can get involved.

Some of our committees include the following. Select a committee name to view more information.

Hospitality Committee

The Hospitality Committee welcomes new Stonewall residents with a gift basket filled with coupons and other items donated by local merchants. The committee relies on fellow residents to donate the baskets, so please contact Don Starsinic via e-mail or phone at 224-8017 if you have a basket that you wish to donate.

Further information regarding this committee and participating merchants will be published soon.

Overlay Committee

The Stonewall Overlay Committee was formed in 2006 to address future development within the Stonewall neighborhood. The primary focus of this committee is to ensure that Stonewall retains the beauty and character for which it is known and that future development initiatives do not negatively impact existing property owners and the neighborhood as a whole.

The Overlay Committee worked with the LFUCG Division of Planning to seek an ND-1 designation for Stonewall that will "overlay" the three existing zones of which this area is comprised: R1-B, R1-C, and R1-D. An ND-1 designation would preserve and protect our neighborhood, keeping the beauty and distinct characteristics intact for many generations to come. Click here for more information regarding ND-1.

Caryl Pfeiffer serves as chairperson for this committee. Please contact Caryl via e-mail or phone at 223-4453 if you would like to be involved or wish to obtain more information. This committee is not currently active, as the results of their research indicated that the ND-1 designation would likely not address the concerns for which it was originally intended. Review the minutes of our 2007 Annual Meeting for Caryl's report on the overlay process for Stonewall.

The current Overlay Committee members are listed below. Select the name of any committee member to send an e-mail message. Members designated with an asterisk (*) also serve as Board Members for the Stonewall Community Association.

Stonewall Safety Watch

This committee is responsible for implementing and maintaining a formal neighborhood Safety Watch program for Stonewall. Several residents volunteered to serve during both our 2006 and 2007 Annual Meetings. Due to the size of our neighborhood, additional volunteers are always welcome, especially to serve as Block Captains.

For more information regarding this program, click here to download our Safety Watch brochure. You may also find additional information within this website on our Safety page. We will continue to publish updates regarding this program.

Don Starsinic, former Stonewall Association President and current board member serves as Chairperson for this committee. Please contact Don via e-mail or phone at 224-8017 if you are interested in becoming a part of this neighborhood safety initiative.
